Rhino Class – Ages 2 to 3
At Noddy Nursery School Alberton , our Rhino Class, toddlers aged 2–3 enjoy a nurturing and stimulating environment that encourages language, cognitive, fine and gross motor, and social-emotional development. Every activity is carefully designed to help children explore, learn, and grow at their own pace while having fun.
Language Development:
Toddlers practice speaking, listening, and engaging in simple conversations. They learn new words through interactive storytelling, songs, nursery rhymes, and activities with repetitive patterns. By describing objects, following simple instructions, and expressing their needs in words, children build strong early communication and vocabulary skills.
Cognitive Development:
Our Rhino Class encourages toddlers to think, explore, and problem-solve. Children learn to build with blocks, solve simple puzzles, and discover hidden objects. Early numeracy skills are introduced through counting, recognizing numbers, and understanding one-to-one correspondence. Children also learn basic shapes and colours through play, exploration, and matching games, promoting curiosity and cognitive growth.
Fine Motor Skills:
Activities such as drawing, painting, manipulating playdough, and stringing beads help toddlers develop hand-eye coordination and strengthen small muscles. These skills are essential for self-care tasks and early writing readiness.
Gross Motor Skills:
Outdoor play and movement activities support large muscle development, balance, and coordination. Toddlers enjoy running, jumping, climbing, and playing with large balls, which build confidence in their physical abilities and encourage spatial awareness.
Social & Emotional Development:
Toddlers in our Rhino Class learn to share, take turns, cooperate with peers, and express emotions appropriately. Guided group activities and imaginative play help children develop social skills, empathy, and self-regulation. They gain confidence as they interact with others and learn how to manage feelings in positive ways.
Our Approach:
Teachers provide supportive guidance while allowing children to explore independently, fostering both curiosity and independence. Parents are encouraged to engage in their child’s learning journey, sharing milestones and celebrating achievements along the way.
At Noddy Nursery School Alberton, the Rhino Class prepares toddlers for the next stage of early learning by helping them develop essential skills in language, cognition, motor development, and social-emotional growth — all within a safe, fun, and nurturing environment.
